Smile- 100 Theme Challenge

     Angel, she was smiling. The child me and Hope adopted was smiling. She was our first child. We hadn't started having our own yet. She was still small but she was getting stronger. The equipment that had once been in here to keep her alive was now replaced with toys and cute little pink things that people had given us.  It must have been a good sign if she didn't need the equipment anymore. She was smiling and giggling, trying to kick off the little blanket. I gently placed my hand on her tiny legs. She looked at me as  if to say ‘why can’t I play?’ I just smiled and picked her up the way the nurse showed me. She coughed the slight squeak of a babies cough. Then she held to my shirt as I held her  “No kick, no kicking.” I mouthed to her. She turned her head as if to say ‘where  is the sound?’ I just rocked her gently. I looked at my wife and she smiled and for once I couldn't read what was behind that smile. It was then I though came in my mind, that never occurred to me before.Hope might not want Angel. She must have seen something on my face cause she asked what was wrong. I shook my head. I didn't want to believe something like that. I loved Hope but I also loved my Angle. It would kill me to have to give either of them up. So instead of believing  it, I pushed the thought out of my mind. The baby smiled as I put her down. The day of smiled that’s what it was. Real or fake everyone was smiling.
